Dorset Buttons - Project Book combines a range of different buttony techniques, from the most ancient and obscure High Tops to the most popular and recognised Crosswheel designs.
Once mastered, the techniques can be used to create a whole wealth of design and creations, which can be used for many practical and decorative purposes in the home, in craft projects, as wearable art and to decorate the home or mark a special event.
Dorset Buttons were a major industry for the county of Dorset, particularly during the 17th and 18th Centuries, when it also created the need for an Act of Parliament to prevent so many workers abandoning the fields to work in the relative comfort of the home.
The book contains a full materials and equipment list. Clear step by step illustrated guides for the stitches used. These are set out for both Right and Left handed stitchers, which is a key feature of all Dizzy & Creative projects. Some designs can be a little fiddly, but essentially simple and incredibly effective. And Reader Beware - button making can become addictive!!!
